Professional Communication and Conflict Coaching

The Professional Coaching Process.

Professional coaches are often called in when a business or individual perceives that something is in need of change.  The coaching process engenders positive change through the use of structured plans, which are designed to achieve agreed upon goals.  In the context of communication systems, coaching provides an excellent framework to attain certain work behaviors that will improve dialogue, decision-making, problem-solving, leadership, teamwork, and accountability.

Conflict coaching is a specialized form of both communication coaching and alternative dispute resolution, and may be used very effectively within an organizational context.  Like many other techniques of this nature, it is premised upon the view that conflict provides an opportunity to improve working relationships, create mutually satisfactory solutions, and attain other positive outcomes when differences arise between and among people.

Coaching can be provided in a number of ways, including one-on-one meetings, group sessions, and large scale seminars.  It can also be provided virtually via teleconferences or webinars.

The Benefits of Engaging in Communication and Conflict Coaching.

There is perhaps nothing more important to your professional success than your ability to communicate well.  Skillful communication is a core competency for virtually everyone.  Yet, even the most highly-trained and well-positioned individuals pinpoint communication issues as the reason behind many employment problems, failed negotiations, business disputes, or career stagnation.  The bottom line is that poor communication is costly to both the individual and the organization.

I have received graduate training to serve as a professional coach and hold the status of Associate Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation.  In this role, I assist my clients with the following goals and objectives:
  • To communicate in ways which are more clear, concise, complete, courteous, and constructive, given any professional endeavor or circumstance.
  • To be more dynamic, proficient, and confident negotiators and business representatives, with more resources to draw upon especially when complexities arise.
  • To better analyze issues, evaluate options, and consider appropriate responses during a dispute resolution process, particularly when stress and emotions are high.
  • To engage in and model effective conflict management strategies among workplace discussions with supervisors, employees, and peers.
  • To utilize more positive communication tools, which in turn demonstrate enhanced management and leadership skills, improved motivation, and a sharper professional focus and presence.
Group Trainings and Workshops.

In additional to individual coaching, many companies and organizations integrate broader mechanisms for improving their overall communication systems.  Examples include workshops and trainings on negotiation tactics and strategies, productive feedback and facilitation techniques, conflict competent leadership, and team dynamics.  The combined use of a range of approaches not only conveys a strong organizational message on the importance of effective and respectful communication, it also provides many types of venues which appeal to the variety of ways that people learn and change.
